City walk Copenhagen — Horror with happy ending is a tour of harsh tales from 1600 to 1900 — where poverty held women and children in its iron grip. Children were a burden on society and women had absolutely no rights. Drunk, fornication and injustice flourished as never before and the sorrows were drowned in brandy and brawls.
The tour starts at the Lurbladerne and ramparts and from here to Vartov's story: the children's and chew house of Chr.D.4, the hospital church where the patients followed the services from the bed while the hens cowered in the yard, the fish chickens shouted in the streets and the poor screamed from the torture on the cake. On to The Girl with the Needle, children who were sold at auction and women who gave birth in absentia.
The trip is harsh and not for the faint of heart, but happily ends on a high note and happy end.
